It is an interior fitting-out works for Evangelical Lutheran Church Social Service Elderly Day Care Center at Shan King Estate in Tuen Mun, Hong Kong. Kenneth Poon was the project-in-charge and lead designer while the project was administrated under K&W Architects Ltd. as the authorized person.
The total floor area on grade is approximately 1,900 square feet. The existing facility required further improvement works to cope with modern day operation and building regulations. Many aged amenities are no longer suitable and safe for elderly people.
Colonial British style with green features is applied to this project due to the fact that many elderly users in the center have a sentimental knot with the former British governance. Timber was used in the design to establish a Colonial British ambience. A wall of artificial culture stone with vertical greenery provides a rustic touch. All mechanical services and lights are designed with high energy efficiency.
The center has been visited by many elderly organizations in Hong Kong after completion of construction.
