Philia Earth was commissioned by a long time Indonesian friend to design a private family residence located in Pondok Indah, South Jakarta, within a prestigious residential community.
The architectural design adopts a sleek rectangular form, incorporating a simple shear wall system to enhance structural stability in response to the region’s seismic conditions. The building envelope features white enamel panels that effectively reflect solar radiation, reducing heat gain within the interior spaces. In addition, horizontal sun-shading devices are carefully designed in accordance with the solar path to provide optimal shading throughout the day.
Sustainable landscape strategies are integrated into the design, including a ground-floor lawn and a roof garden. These green areas help reduce surface stormwater runoff, while evapotranspiration from planted surfaces provides a natural cooling effect to the surrounding environment. High-performance insulated glass units with low shading coefficients are installed to minimize solar heat gain through glazing, contributing to improved indoor thermal comfort.
The interior specification emphasizes safe and sustainable materials, including ultra-low VOC paints, eco-friendly flooring, and energy-efficient electrical appliances. Together, these elements support a healthy living environment while reducing the home’s overall carbon footprint.
